Total Lunar Eclipse, 10/27/2004 I set up my Orion 90mm, f5.6 Rich Field and used a 26mm eyepiece. These photos were taken with a Nikon 3.2 meg digital camera. I just put the camera up to the eyepiece and took shots. These are the best. I hope you enjoy them.
This shot was taken at 8 o'clock. I wanted to see if the camera would give me a decent image.
This is first bite. It is around 9:15 PM. My sky was really clear. I am in Northeast New Jersey, 3 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. I heard that others in South Jersey had clouds.
The progression follows. I was involve in a conversations with my neighbors who came out to watch the eclipse with me and my children and missed a few shots.
Temperature must have been in the 50's. We didn't get cold until around 11:00 PM. We stayed out until Totality.
My camera couldn't capture any color on the Umbra side. It was a beautiful dark amber through the scope and naked eye. It was too dim for my camera to pick up.
I observed the Eclipse from my home in Neptune, New Jersey. Along with me were my three children, Devon, Nia and Dougie. Also, Dennis, Cathy and their son Morgan Holland were with me. It was a very enjoyable experience.
Got some very dim shots of the final light. Just a point and shoot digitial camera. Hope you enjoyed my few shots. Thanks and Clear Skies. All photos taken by: Russell E. King. PICTURE GALLERY HOME
